Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team at Wawanesa. As a key member of our Accounts Payable team, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of invoices and payments, as well as the reconciliation of related accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Verify and process invoices for goods and services, ensuring proper controls are maintained.
- Enter invoices into the Accounts Payable module, including authorization, general ledger classification, expense categorization, and tax classification.
- Approve employee expense reports in Chrome River, providing support and training to employees as needed.
- Create pay cycles for review and payment processing, obtaining necessary approvals and cheque printing.
- Reconcile vendor statements and previous balances owing.
- Reconcile select general ledger accounts and differences with integration failures.
- Respond to incoming vendor and employee inquiries, resolving issues accurately and tactfully.
- Meet monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting deadlines.
- Maintain and manage relevant files, including vendors and invoices.
- Ensure vendor profiles are up to date and free of duplicates or outdated information.
- Participate in Accounts Payable related projects and streamlining processes.
- Completion of an accounting-related college degree and/or combination of experience and education.
- 5 years of previous experience in accounts payable processing, with a demonstrated ability to drive continuous operational improvement.
- Conversant with MS Office software.
- Knowledge of indirect taxes.
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
- Able to adapt and work in a fast-paced/changing environment.
- Able to execute on change in an environment focused on continuous improvement to processes.
- Team player able to collaborate with others or work independently when required.
