Job Title: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary:

The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums seeks a highly experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization in achieving its mission of advancing the conservation of wildlife and their habitats. As the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, vision, and direction to our team, while ensuring the organization's continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organization, aligning with our mission and vision.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to advance conservation efforts and promote the organization's goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including member zoos and aquariums, government agencies, and conservation organizations.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support conservation and education efforts.
  • Lead the organization's fundraising efforts, securing funding from a variety of sources to support conservation and education programs.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization's continued growth and success.
  • Represent the organization at national and international levels, promoting our mission and goals.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of leadership and management experience in a conservation or zoological organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in fundraising and grant writing, with a proven ability to secure funding from a variety of sources.
  • Strong knowledge of conservation and education principles, with a passion for promoting the organization's mission and goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a zoological or aquarium organization.
  • Knowledge of conservation and education best practices.
  • Experience in program development and implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
