Practical Nursing Specialist

About the RoleThis position works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and reports to the Director of Care while providing nursing and personal care to residents. As a member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for overseeing daily routines and functions, reviewing resident reports, administering medications, and observing and monitoring resident conditions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long-term care, and possess excellent written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management, and customer focus skills.
Responsibilities- Provide direct care to residents, including bathing, dressing, undressing, and assisting with meals
- Review 24-72 hour reports at the beginning of each shift
- Follow and process physician orders
- Administer medications and treatments within College of Nurses limitations
- Observe and monitor resident conditions, reporting changes to the Registered Nurse
- Ensure observance with required techniques in nursing care
- Responsible for resident safety, according to role
You will also participate in the development and modification of resident plans of care, assist in implementing and evaluating their effectiveness, and maintain up-to-date records in compliance with established standards and legislative requirements.
Requirements- Current Medication Administration Certificate or equivalent
- Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
- Experience in Long-Term Care considered an asset
- Registered with a regulatory body
- Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management, and customer focus skills
The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
