Job Summary
The Westin Nova Scotian, a leading hotel in the Halifax Seaport District, seeks a highly skilled Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced culinary professional to take on a leadership role in our kitchen. As Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for mentoring and training our cooking staff, overseeing food preparation and presentation, and ensuring that all kitchen operations are running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentorship and Training - Work with our cooking staff to deliver exceptional food quality and presentation, and provide guidance and support to help them develop their skills.
- Food Preparation and Presentation - Oversee the preparation and presentation of all menu items, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Kitchen Operations - Ensure that all kitchen operations are running smoothly and efficiently, including food safety and sanitation procedures.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 5 years of progressive culinary experience
- Valid Serve Right & Food Handling Certificate
- Completion of relevant college coursework or equivalent experience
- Physical ability to perform medium intensity work
