About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Security Advisor to join our team at Sun Life Financial. As a key member of our security team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security threats to our business.
  • Develop and implement effective security controls to protect our information assets from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, modification, or destruction.
  • Collaborate with various business groups to ensure that security requirements are integrated into business initiatives and projects.
  • Provide expert advice on security best practices and emerging security trends to ensure our organization remains secure and compliant.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration on security-related matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and emerging security threats to ensure our organization remains secure and compliant.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Security and Information Technology (IT).
  • Strong understanding of information security principles, protocols, practices, and industry standards.
  • Experience conducting information security risk assessments, including cloud-based technologies.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with senior staff and executives.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with contract wording and interpretation of security clauses.
  • Ability to work and communicate with various business groups from a non-technical perspective.
  • Self-starter, can work with minimum supervision, strategic thinker, negotiator, and consensus builder.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.
  • University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Security, and Risk Management or comparable professional education/training in a field relevant to IT Security management.
  • Professional designation relating to Information Security (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA).
