JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Security Specialist with over 5 years of experience to spearhead our application security initiatives. This role emphasizes the integration of security within DevSecOps practices, container security, threat modeling, and cloud security. The successful candidate will be pivotal in safeguarding the security and integrity of our applications throughout their development lifecycle.
The role involves providing strategic and operational support to the Manager of Application Security and the Director of Cyber Threat Management, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive cyber program.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and uphold effective application security protocols within our DevSecOps framework. Collaborate with development teams to embed security measures into CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct security evaluations, code assessments, and assist development teams in remediation efforts.
- Execute threat modeling for both new and existing applications and systems.
- Formulate and enforce container security policies and best practices.
- Implement and oversee cloud security solutions, including CASB and Microsoft Defender products, alongside container security measures for Docker and Kubernetes to ensure comprehensive protection of cloud data, applications, and infrastructure.
- Deliver security guidance and training to development and operations teams.
- Remain updated on emerging threats and advancements in security technologies.
- Research various enterprise security solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in application security with a robust understanding of application security threats, attack patterns, and emerging vulnerabilities. Familiarity with security standards and frameworks (OWASP Top 10, NIST/CSC/ISO 27001, etc.).
- Strong grasp and practical experience with Static Application Security Testing (SAST), secure coding practices, and Open-Source Analysis.
- Expertise in DevSecOps methodologies and tools, with knowledge of GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Jenkins, and micro-services.
- Experience with threat modeling techniques and methodologies.
- Proficiency in container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their security implications.
- Able to operate at strategic, design, and hands-on technical levels.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills for effective collaboration across teams.
- Proficient in cloud security and industry-leading best practices for robust data protection.
- Strong understanding of various IT operations/processes (change management, release management) and the ability to define/design security processes to meet business needs.
- Preferred Certifications: CISA/CISSP/CCSP/CISM/CIA/CEH/SANS GIAC, CSSLP, CAS.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS/INFORMATION:
A standard work week consists of 35 hours; however, unforeseen circumstances may necessitate extended hours with little or no prior notice. In the event of a cyber incident or breach, rotational shifts and continuous extended hours may be required.
