Purpose:

The Manager, Business & Strategic Initiatives plays a critical role in ensuring the success of ScotiaMcLeod by executing specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Manage projects and initiatives as assigned, requiring direct interaction with key stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate project phases from execution of project plans to project closeout.
  • Secure appropriate resources and support to ensure initiatives are completed correctly, on time, and on budget.
  • Ensure internal and external escalation procedures are followed in a timely manner for prompt resolution on projects.
  • Proactively identify and support implementation of initiatives and processes that contribute to efficient and effective operation of the business.
  • Maintain an active list of initiatives, identify responsible stakeholders, and timelines to implement.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and process efficiencies to create overall effectiveness while consulting with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration.
  • Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management in the wealth management, banking, or financial services industry is an asset.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with stakeholders with varying cross-cultural and language differences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other teams and senior executives.
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners, and external vendors.
  • Leadership skills in Building Strategic Relationships and Customer Focus.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
