Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Extern Program Coordinator to join our team at Halton Healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of a comprehensive Clinical Extern Program, which provides oversight to Clinical Externs who are clinical students working as unregulated care providers at our hospitals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Clinical Extern Program that meets the needs of our hospitals and Clinical Externs.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of Clinical Externs, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Create and deliver education and training resources to support Clinical Externs in their practice, using various delivery methods.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Resource Nurses, Team Leads, and other stakeholders to ensure the integration of Clinical Externs at the organizational and unit level.
  • Provide on-unit support for Clinical Extern professional development, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Participate in competency evaluation and performance management, ensuring Clinical Externs meet the necessary standards.
  • Collaborate with the student clinical placement program to ensure connection and clarity between Clinical Externs and clinical students.
Qualifications
  • Regulated Healthcare Professional in good standing with their Professional College.
  • Three years related healthcare experience.
  • Current certificate in Basic Life Support by the Heart and Stroke Foundation preferred.
  • Passion for and experience with mentorship, preceptorship, and adult learning principles.
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to collaborate across various levels of leadership.
  • Exceptionally patient and caregiver focused, with excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond positively to change, work independently, and develop systems that create efficient workflows.
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Proven high level of maturity, discretion, and ability to maintain impartiality and objectivity.
