About the Position

The Nova Scotia government is seeking a highly skilled Nutritional Services Manager to oversee the coordination of nutritional needs for correctional services and IWK/NS Health Forensics populations.

This executive role is responsible for establishing priorities, menus, and policies to meet the nutritional needs of individuals in custody, as well as managing the procurement, nutritional support, maintenance, and security of fixed and consumable inventory.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Dietician with post-secondary studies in a related field and several years of directly related experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive menu plans for healthy eating.
  • Manage the efficient fiscal operation of nutritional services, including purchasing, budget preparation, forecasting, and inventory control.
  • Lead and train staff, prepare performance appraisals, succession planning, and interpret the Collective Agreement.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly nutrition service environment and ensure government equipment is in good repair.
  • Provide advice and guidance to other facilities on equipment, menus, hiring, and processes.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietician with post-secondary studies in a related field.
  • Several years of directly related experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging/emotional situations in a correctional environment.
