About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled Nutrition Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our correctional facility, you will be responsible for ensuring the nutritional needs of our clients are met through the coordination of menus, policies, and procurement of food and supplies.

As a Registered Dietician, you will be accountable for the efficient operation of our nutritional services, including budget preparation, forecasting, and inventory control. You will also be responsible for hiring and training staff, preparing performance appraisals, and interpreting the Collective Agreement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive menu plans that meet the nutritional needs of our clients
  • Manage the procurement and inventory of food and supplies
  • Lead and manage a team of staff to ensure the efficient operation of our nutritional services
  • Prepare and implement budgets, forecasts, and inventory control measures
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and secure handling of food and supplies
Requirements
  • Registered Dietician with post-secondary studies in a related field
  • Several years of directly related experience in a correctional facility or similar setting
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive menu plans and policies
  • Ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and inventory control measures
