Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Materials Engineer to join our Materials and Construction Services team in Edmonton, AB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating, designing, constructing, and testing concrete structures, foundations, embankments, and trenches. Your expertise will also include developing, interpreting, and applying specifications and procedures associated with infrastructure project construction.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate and design concrete structures, foundations, embankments, and trenches.
  • Develop and apply specifications and procedures for infrastructure project construction.
  • Provide senior engineering support during construction activities.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff members.
  • Communicate with clients, sub-consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in business development activities.
  • Ensure quality control and quality assurance processes and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Materials or Civil Engineering, preferably with a graduate degree or Ph.D. in Materials Engineering. You should also have at least 10 years of experience in materials engineering in Western Canada, with extensive knowledge of concrete mix design, review, and mitigation of alkali reactivity (CSA A23.2-27A). Additionally, you must have experience in concrete condition assessments, repairs, and the design, preconstruction, and post-construction evaluation of PCC, including High Performance Concrete (HPC) and Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC).
