Health Care Worker II, Inpatient Unit

We are seeking a skilled Health Care Worker II, Inpatient Unit to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients in a fast-paced inpatient unit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Day-to-Day Patient Care: Assist with meals, bathing, dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene for patients. Supervise and escort patients to meals and activities.
- Perform Routine Nursing Procedures: Weigh patients, take temperatures, pulse, respiration, blood pressures, and measure intake and output. Record data on flow sheets and report changes in patient condition or behavior.
- Assist with Admission and Discharge Procedures: Accompany patients to and from appointments, assist with paperwork, and ensure a smooth transition between care settings.
- Participate in Rehabilitation and Remotivation Programs: Escort and supervise patients during gym groups, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. Promote patients' compliance with treatment goals and participate in therapeutic community settings.
- Maintain a Safe Environment: Be aware of patients on special or constant attention status and closely monitor their behavior. Assist with hospital and grounds searches for absent patients.
- Assist with Disturbances and Restraints: Conduct and assist in controlling disturbances, and assist in restraining out-of-control patients.
- Perform Other Related Duties: Assist with clean-up, tidy unit kitchen, and make patients' coffee. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Coordinator, Inpatient Unit.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Grade twelve (12) and a Resident Care Aide certificate
- Two (2) years' recent, related experience in a group home and/or other related areas where clients with psychiatric conditions may reside
- Valid Class V BC Drivers' Licence
- Basic First Aid certificate
You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
