About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy assessments, consultations, and interventions to patients to maximize function and promote independence and safety.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop individual treatment goals and provide treatment and/or teaching to patients and caregivers.
  • Facilitate the group therapy process through the use of cognitive, behavioral, psycho-educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods.
  • Prepare written assessments/reports, including recommendations to facilitate patient success in rehabilitation, and monitor and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Role model and demonstrate occupational therapy techniques and practices to staff and students, and provide information based on the application of theories, concepts, and principles.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One year's recent, related experience in a psychiatric setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists - BC (CAOT-BC).
