The Role

We are seeking a skilled Bartender to join our team at the Toronto Blue Jays. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest experiences while accurately mixing and serving beverages in a friendly and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests, take orders directly from guests or from In-Seat servers, and prepare drinks in a timely fashion.
  • Mix drinks, cocktails, and other bar beverages as ordered, adhering to company standards.
  • Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  • Provide information on wine characteristics, evaluate guests' needs, make suggestions, and serve wine using proper wine service techniques.
  • Responsible for the setup, maintenance, and breakdown of assigned bar area.
  • Bartenders are responsible for recipe knowledge, proper ringing of all product, and cash and credit card handling.
  • Provide a fun, friendly, and exciting experience for all guests, upholding all standards for the proper service of alcohol as set forth by Legends Hospitality and the Toronto Blue Jays.
  • Utilize high-quality spirits, liqueurs, fruits, fresh herbs, and spices to create sensational drinks for guests.
  • Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for the purchase of alcohol.
  • Ensure the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests, prepare inventory or restocking requisitions as needed to replenish supplies.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus, and specials.
  • Demonstrate and follow all rules and regulations regarding alcohol service.
  • Provide personal service and attention to detail that will exceed guests' expectations.
  • Work as a team with fellow associates and other service departments within the stadium.
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned.
  • Must be knowledgeable of other food, beverage, and retail outlets within the stadium.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience as a high-volume bartender for at least two years.
  • Ability to interact with guests to assure guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers to assure compliance with company service standards.
  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
  • Must be able to obtain food safety and responsible alcohol service certifications (Smart Serve).
  • Extensive knowledge of drink recipes.
  • Must know how to create and execute drinks in a timely manner.
  • Extensive knowledge of wines.
  • Must maintain personal hygiene and a well-groomed appearance standard.
  • Willingness and drive to exceed guest expectations.
  • Ability to effectively listen and take direction from a supervisor.
  • Must be personable, friendly, and welcoming.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write English in order to communicate with guests and other team members.
  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work most sporting events, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned production tasks, including constant reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures, and regulations, complete company-wide safety training, and any additional job-specific safety training.

Location: On Site

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands to finger, and handle controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and stoop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
