About the Opportunity

The Division of Cardiac Surgery at Nova Scotia Health is seeking a full-time Senior Cardiac Surgeon to join our team at the QEII Health Sciences Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a tertiary care referral center, we serve approximately two million people in the Atlantic provinces.

To qualify, the candidate must be certified in Cardiac Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and possess advanced skills in coronary artery bypass grafting, mitral valve replacement/repair, and aortic valve replacement. The ideal candidate will have experience with Bentall procedures, valve-sparing root repair, Type A repairs, and the Ross Procedure. Significant experience with TAVI and an aortic fellowship are also required. The successful candidate will be able to manage the intensive care unit and participate in research activities.

Responsibilities

The Senior Cardiac Surgeon will play an active educator role in the education of undergraduate medical students, residents, and fellows of the Division of Cardiac Surgery and nursing staff. Reporting to the Head of the Division, the successful applicant will actively engage in personal coaching/leadership training. Compensation is through participation in the Dalhousie University, Department of Surgery, Academic Funding Plan (AFP).

Compensation Package

The estimated annual salary for this position is $400,000-$600,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications. This includes a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization.
