About the Opportunity
The Registered Cardiology Technologist Advanced performs various noninvasive cardiac diagnostic tests, such as electrocardiograms, signal average electrocardiograms, ambulatory monitoring, and exercise tolerance testing. The technologist prepares patients for ambulatory monitoring and stress testing under the direct supervision of a cardiologist.
This role involves preparing patients for 24-hour Holter monitoring or several weeks of event loop recorder monitoring. The technologist will also be responsible for precepting/mentoring new learners in the department.
This position spans multiple sites between the Halifax Infirmary, Victoria General, and the Mumford Professional Centre, with the Halifax Infirmary as the home site.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Grade 12 plus a two-year BCIT program or equivalent required
- Current registration and good standing with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists required
- Current BLS certification required
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Manual dexterity required
- Demonstrates independent judgment
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Compensation and Benefits
$28.91 per hour
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. This is a Healthcare bargaining unit position. Preference is given to bargaining unit employees for unionized positions.
