Strategic Procurement Expert

We are seeking a seasoned procurement expert to lead our strategic procurement initiatives in information technology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that drive business value and support our organization's objectives.
Job DescriptionThe Senior Advisor, Procurement, oversees complex procurement processes used to procure goods and services for all sectors related to information technology. This includes determining the acquisition strategy for each contract, selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and preparing procurement documents. You will work closely with internal clients to ensure that their needs are met and that BDC meets its contractual obligations.
You will also have the opportunity to mentor fellow procurement advisors or analysts and contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement business practices. Your expertise will be essential in creating templates, recommending policy improvements, and designing procurement tools to enhance our procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead complex procurement processes in information technology, including strategic and high-risk procurements;
- Negotiate and prepare contracts, ensuring fairness between competing suppliers and quality goods and services at the right cost;
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet business needs and reduce costs;
- Analyze tenders received, negotiate, and award contracts;
- Manage contract portfolios, monitor markets, and recommend procurement strategies to reduce costs and consolidate procurement needs;
- Coach and mentor peers with less procurement experience;
- Assist in maintaining and optimizing BDC's data systems related to procurement and contract management;
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A bachelor's degree in administration or other relevant training;
- At least 8 years' relevant experience, particularly in strategic procurement in information technology;
- At least 5 years' experience in government/public procurement and managing complex procurement files in information technology;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, to adapt to various levels within and outside the organization;
- Courage and skills to influence decisions, negotiate favorable contractual and commercial provisions, and effectively manage supplier relations;
- Strong business sense and understanding of BDC's and internal clients' business objectives;
- Coaching and mentoring experience to guide and support peers with less procurement experience;
- Deep interest in internal client operations and a strong desire to contribute to BDC's business objectives;
