At PHSA, we're committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and their families. As a Respiratory Therapist I in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.
About the Role
The Respiratory Therapist I supports our interdisciplinary team with respiratory therapy expertise for hospital patients with serious health needs who require the care level of the PICU. Usual duties include:
- Providing exemplary patient care through case review and physical assessment; recommendations for plan of care; documentation of patient response and outcomes
- Operating respiratory equipment for patient care, including initial set up, ongoing quality control procedures, and initiating appropriate adjustments required by care
- Supporting patient care for individuals who are ventilator dependent, including assessment and monitoring to meet care protocols and daily care plans
- Recommending and administering individualized medical gas therapies for patients
- Providing invasive and non-invasive cardio-pulmonary monitoring
What You Bring
We're looking for a Respiratory Therapist I who is a graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy and has successfully completed the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination. You'll also need to be registered with the British Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), and have current Basic Life Support certification and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
