Respiratory Therapist I, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) job at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, BC, involves providing critical care to pediatric patients.
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing patient medical history, conducting assessments, and recommending care
- Setting up, checking, and operating respiratory equipment
- Initiating, monitoring, and assessing ventilator-dependent patients
- Administering medical gas therapies and providing cardio-pulmonary monitoring
- Responding to emergencies and observing patient responses during testing and treatments
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy
- Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination completion
- Current registration with British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists and Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists
- Basic Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certifications
Skills and Experience:
- Effective communication and organization skills
- Ability to collaborate with team members and think critically
- Physical ability to perform job duties and knowledge of respiratory equipment
- Awareness of Indigenous Cultural Safety and commitment to reconciliation
