Job Summary:

The Human Resources Business Manager is responsible for the strategic development and management of human resources functions within a specific region. This includes regional planning, employee and labour relations, employee performance management and development, recruitment and selection, human resources management systems applications, compensation and benefits, retirement and pensions, occupational health and safety, policies and procedures, and HR program evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement human resources strategies to support regional goals and objectives.
  • Manage employee and labour relations, including conflict resolution and grievance procedures.
  • Develop and implement employee performance management and development programs.
  • Recruit and select candidates for open positions, ensuring a diverse and qualified pool of applicants.
  • Implement and maintain human resources management systems, including HRMS and other software applications.
  • Develop and administer compensation and benefits programs, including retirement and pension plans.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and policies.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to human resources.
  • Conduct HR program evaluations to ensure effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Directors, Managers, and other HR colleagues to monitor and improve the effectiveness of human resources functions within the region and the entire organization.
  • Develop and maintain positive mentoring and advisory relationships with Kerry's Place Managers.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure that employees are informed of Human Resources' policies, procedures, and total compensation information.
  • Travel to Region to be present on a regular basis and as required.
  • Manage one or more human resource components/functions for the organization.
  • Ensure accuracy, completion, and timely follow-up of documentation required by legislation and policy and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate confidentiality is maintained for individuals and employees.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all relevant partners/stakeholders, including partner agencies, legal advisors, government employees, Union and community contacts.
  • Oversee effective orientation programs for new employees.
  • Oversee employee relations to maximize employee satisfaction.
  • Interpret union-management agreements and represent management in the negotiation and settlement of grievances.
  • Develop and conduct management and employee training sessions on topics related to areas of responsibility.
  • Attend HR department meetings as required.
  • Act as chair and co-chair of committees related to areas of responsibility.
  • Provide follow-up to ensure that action plans are implemented.
  • Maintain employee documentation and records.
  • Adhere to manager responsibilities for Health and Safety as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations.

Requirements:

  • CHRP designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Completion of University Degree or community college diploma (3) years in Human Resources or other relevant degree.
  • Completion of equivalent training or education complemented by appropriate human resources experience.
  • Five years of experience in Human Resources, preferably with experience in a generalist role.
  • Experience in a management role is preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
