About the Opportunity

The University of Toronto's Faculty of Law invites applications from outstanding scholars for a three-year contractually limited term appointment as an Assistant Professor. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a vibrant and diverse academic community, with a strong focus on research and teaching excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level, establishing an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
  • Teach and mentor students, contributing to the development of a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
  • Engage in academic service, participating in departmental and faculty-wide initiatives.

Requirements

  • Hold a J.D. or equivalent degree, with a doctoral degree preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellence in research and teaching, with a strong record of publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals.
  • Provide evidence of teaching excellence, including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-identify as Indigenous, with a strong commitment to Indigenous and Aboriginal Law.
  • Have a proven track record of leading or organizing learning on the land and/or engagement and collaboration with Indigenous communities, organizations, and institutions.
