School Support Staff

Job Summary:
The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is seeking a reliable and flexible Custodian Assistant to join our team. As a Custodian Assistant, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support to our schools and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of school facilities, including classrooms, hallways, and common areas.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and emptying trash and recycling.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machinery, such as vacuum cleaners and floor polishers.
- Assist with special events and projects, such as setup and cleanup.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a custodial or maintenance role an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Search required.
Working Conditions:
This is a casual position, with varying hours and locations. Reliable transportation is required to respond to daily/weekly calls. The hourly rate for this position is $20.08.
