About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Deafblind Support Specialist to join our team at Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are deafblind to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support communication and daily living activities for individuals who are deafblind, enabling them to live independently and participate fully in their communities.
  • Use effective communication techniques to relay information and empower individuals to participate and succeed in all aspects of daily living.
  • Provide personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
  • Assist with developing and supporting individual goals and objectives, and ensuring documentation and records are complete.
Requirements
  • Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program, or a related human services field.
  • Experience supporting persons with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Experience supporting persons with mental health conditions.
  • Communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
  • A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract.
