About the Role

Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada is seeking a Part Time Support Specialist for Deafblind Individuals to join our team in Renfrew, ON.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to individuals who are deafblind, enabling them to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the individual in their home and community environments, promoting independence and autonomy.
  • Use effective communication techniques to relay information and facilitate interaction.
  • Empower the individual to participate and succeed in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
  • Provide personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, and medication administration.
  • Assist in developing and supporting individual goals and objectives, promoting personal growth and fulfillment.
  • Contribute to program development and ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.
Requirements
  • Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related human services field.
  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions.
  • Communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
  • A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract.
