Position Overview

FortisBC is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our team. As a leading energy provider in British Columbia, we are committed to delivering renewable energy, natural gas, electricity, and propane to our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Design and operate natural gas facilities and pipelines, including stress analysis and equipment sizing and selection.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to complete capital projects.
  • Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure.
  • Research and develop design standards.
  • Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance to company and industry codes and standards.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with a Mechanical focus, preferably in the third or fourth year.
  • Participating in a Co-op program.
  • Valid driver's license and current abstract.
Other Qualifications
  • A passion for the energy industry and the utility world.
  • Experience or knowledge with CAD applications.
  • Experience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
  • A knack for public speaking.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment.
Additional Information
  • This is an 8-month co-op term starting in January 2025.
