Job Summary

The Inorganic Section Lead is a critical role in the Department of Environment and Climate Change, responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Inorganic Section.

This position requires a strong understanding of chemistry and environmental science principles, as well as experience in laboratory operations, including ion chromatography, spectrophotometry, and automated titration.

The ideal candidate will have a diploma or degree in a relevant field, such as chemistry or environmental science, and a minimum of five years of laboratory experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience and two years of experience analyzing samples for inorganic parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Inorganic Section, ensuring test results comply with CALA standards and meet client requirements.
  • Develop and implement new procedures as needed, including researching and testing new technologies.
  • Supervise laboratory staff and provide guidance on laboratory operations and quality control.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed, including proper handling and disposal of toxic and bio-hazardous materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of International Standards Organization and Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation guidelines.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers and ion exchange chromatography.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
