Instructor of Childhood Arts and Aesthetics

Brock University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach CHYS 4P05 Childhood, Art, and Aesthetic Expression. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Child and Youth Studies or a related discipline and experience in teaching critical approaches to aesthetics, culture, and theory.
The instructor will be responsible for scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time, including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration.
The ideal candidate will have prior teaching and/or research experience in the study of childhood arts, including film, literature, sound/music, and visual arts as a social, sensory, cultural, historical, and political transdisciplinary topic.
Competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level is required, with evidence of effective teaching experience in the form of letters of reference and course/performance evaluations.
The instructor will be part of the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) and will be responsible for duties and responsibilities in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement.
Effective compensation will be provided, with rates of $7 per half course and $14 per full course, effective September 1, 2024.
