Role Overview

Brock University, a leading comprehensive institution in Canada, is seeking an exceptional instructor to teach CHYS 4P05 Childhood, Art, and Aesthetic Expression. As a key member of our team, you will deliver an outstanding student experience, contribute to impactful research, and drive breakthroughs that transform lives.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary package with:

  • $7 per half course (195 hours) effective September 1, 2024
  • $14 per full course (390 hours) effective September 1, 2024

Please note: Instructors responsible for 2-hour/week lectures or equivalent are accountable for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Responsibilities

Your duties will include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom activities such as lecture preparation, student consultation, grading, and course administration, including handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A PhD in Child and Youth Studies or a related discipline, or be a senior doctoral candidate with relevant qualifications
  • Experience teaching critical approaches to aesthetics, culture, and theory
  • Prior teaching and/or research experience in childhood arts, including film, literature, sound/music, and visual arts as a social, sensory, cultural, historical, and political transdisciplinary topic
  • Evidence of effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level, supported by letters of reference and course/performance evaluations
