Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our team in Toronto. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and administering standard payroll processing activities, including new hire set-ups, garnishments, tax filings, terminations, pay calculations, payroll file creation, T4s, defensive queries, etc. with a focus on Canadian payroll practices and legislation.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Audit and validate client information and payroll data.
  2. Conduct thorough and complex payroll investigations, providing feedback to the client and/or management as required.
  3. Ensure data accuracy and work with the client and colleagues to identify and rectify root causes.
  4. Manage projects and participate in project teams to implement new and modified client business requirements.
  5. Perform client needs analysis, prepare business requirements documentation, and/or change requests as required.
  6. Work with subject matter experts to enhance current tools and/or develop new tools to meet client needs and/or achieve operational efficiency.
  7. Test new and modified systems and applications.
  8. Create user guides and other training material for clients and internal use.
  9. Provide functional training and ongoing support to clients and colleagues.
  10. Work with various systems/tools (Siebel, Maestro, proprietary software) to manage client requests.
  11. Continuously review existing processes to determine opportunities for improvement/efficiency.
  12. Create and maintain current process documentation for internal use.
  13. Respond to client emails and telephone requests in a timely manner.
  14. Participate in or facilitate internal and external meetings.
  15. Adapt to outsourcing culture and recognize differences between running in-house payroll versus as a service provider.
  16. Partner with offshore colleagues to provide seamless, accurate, and timely service to external and internal clients.
  17. Provide ongoing and exceptional client service via telephone, CRM system, face-to-face meetings (as required), and email.

Requirements

  1. Knowledge of both Canadian practices, legislation, and nuances - any U.S. payroll would be considered an asset.
  2. CPA certified would be considered an asset.
  3. Must have Peoplesoft experience, v 7.5 and 8.
  4. Able to work enthusiastically through ambiguous situations and within a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  5. Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively.
  6. Strong analytical skills - including Intermediate Excel skills.
  7. Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  8. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility and the propensity to take initiative.
  9. Able to learn and apply project management skills and methodologies to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and on budget.
  10. Able to balance working autonomously as required while contributing efficiently to the team's overall targets and goals.
  11. Preference will be given to bilingual candidates.

What We Offer

ROSS offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience. This is a full-time position, and we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous paid time off policy.
