At Visual Arts Nova Scotia, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in its mission to promote and support the visual arts in Atlantic Canada. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of our operations and finance, including development, communications, partnerships, and planning/programming of year-round activities under the guidance of our Board of Directors.

About the Role

The Executive Director will be responsible for grant writing and reporting, program development and implementation, and overseeing the publication of Visual Arts News, the only magazine dedicated to visual art in Atlantic Canada. This role requires a strong management background, preferably in the not-for-profit sector, with a deep understanding of visual art practices and the Nova Scotia visual arts community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of the organization's operations and finance
  • Develop and implement programs and activities under the guidance of the Board of Directors
  • Grant writing and reporting
  • Publication of Visual Arts News
Requirements

We are looking for an individual with:

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma plus administrative training or equivalent experience
  • Substantial management/administrative experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector
  • Knowledge of visual art practices is necessary and an extensive knowledge of Nova Scotia's visual arts community is desirable
Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
