About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child Protection Social Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Child and Family Wellbeing team, you will play a critical role in providing professional child and family wellbeing services, including assessing child protection concerns, collaborating with families and communities, and advocating on behalf of children and families.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Assess child protection concerns and work with families and communities to address them
  • Collaborate with and support individuals and families
  • Plan and develop case plans with families
  • Work closely with the community and advocate for connections to community resources
  • Participate in risk assessments, court testimonies, and evaluations
  • Plan with and supervise children in care of the Minister
Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a candidate with a Master of Social Work or a Bachelor of Social Work with at least two years of related experience. You must be eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. You will be a strong team player, empowered to drive positive change, and compassionate, reliable, and resourceful.

Working Conditions

A typical work day is between 8am - 5pm, with substantial driving time required to meet with clients in their homes or with service providers. You may be required to work beyond regular business hours on short notice, and personal resilience is crucial to meet the physical and emotional demands of this position.
