About the Role

Xplore Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Telecom Installation Specialist to join our team in the Gatineau, QC region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, service, and repair of residential and small business customer equipment, including fibre, satellite, fixed wireless, wireless routers, and home phone.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support during field visits or dispatches
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
  • Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks
  • Maintain accurate and timely service reports
  • Manage the inventory management cycle and annual counts, returning inventory that requires repair
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports
  • Audit previous installation and repair work to ensure Xplore Inc. standards have been met and complete work at the customer premises for compliance
  • Operate a vehicle in a safe manner and use field automation systems
  • Follow all company field procedures and protocols
  • Cooperate with technical teams and share information across the organization
Requirements
  • 1-year related work experience or a degree/diploma from a related discipline
  • Bilingual (French & English)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
  • Experience with fixed wireless and fibre optic network deployments
  • Experience handling, configuring, and installing network equipment (e.g. Ericsson, Ceragon, Alpha DC Power Systems, Ciena, Cisco)
  • Certified Fibre Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent experience would be an asset
  • Experience with fibre optic troubleshooting tools & test sets (OTDR, Power Meters)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to break problems down using an analytical approach
  • Exposure to industry standards for Health & Safety, Construction & CSA
  • Working knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, routers, switches, DHCP
  • Basic understanding of fixed wireless/fibre optic network architecture and infrastructure
  • A credit card capable of carrying work-related expenses
  • The ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to work away from home, with long days and weekends as required
