About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Communications and Community Development to join our team at Mediabistro.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Media Relations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.
  • Collaborate with industry publications and their authors/editors to secure coverage and feature stories.
  • Work closely with the Advertising, Brand, and Corporate Voice teams to curate content for distribution.
  • Implement and manage Digital Engagement tools to maximize the organization's share of voice and sentiment across all mediums.
Government Relations
  • Stay informed of current and future government policy that may affect the organization and its customers.
  • Develop and manage an organizational strategy that strengthens relationships with government officials.
  • Develop materials for internal and external use, including position statements, talking points, white papers, etc.
  • Collaborate with credible industry advocates to support areas of common interest.
  • Participate in lobbying efforts for key government policy considerations.
Sponsorship & Community Engagement
  • Craft and manage a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to maximize the organization's impact in the communities in which we operate.
  • Strategically use sponsorship dollars to achieve corporate objectives through community engagement initiatives.
  • Play a lead role in high-impact sponsorships to ensure maximum activation.
  • Quantify the value of community opportunities to optimize investment and impact ratio.
Internal Communications
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to fully understand their challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop and manage strategies to create and distribute stronger internal communication tactics (emails, town halls, newsletters, publications, employee contests, etc.).
  • Explore and implement internal communication/engagement tools such as Facebook Workplace, Microsoft Yammer, or others.
Issues Management
  • Develop issue management strategies as needed.
Public Speaking
  • Represent the organization at events such as tradeshows, press conferences, and other special events.
