About the Role

Nova Scotia Health Authority seeks a skilled and experienced Clinical Operations Manager to facilitate daily administrative and clinical operations of the Department. Reporting to the Eastern Zone Operations Director, the successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Director and the Eastern Zone Pathology & Laboratory Medicine (PLM) Director/Lab Services Medical Lead to ensure delivery of high-quality, safe Pathology and Laboratory Medicine service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate effective operation of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate in co-leadership relationship with the Eastern Zone PLM Medical Director/Lab Services Medical Lead for assigned areas/facilities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound professional judgment, initiative, and leadership skills while working within the organization's Mission, Vision, Policies, Procedures, and Strategic Directives.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology, supplemented by additional formal management and/or leadership training.
  • Master's Degree in health-related discipline, health administration, business administration, or related subject would be considered an asset.
  • Current registration with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and licensure with Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (NSCMLT) is required.
  • Minimum five years' recent relevant supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.
  • Progressive leadership and/or management experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Email, and laboratory information systems (Meditech) required.
  • Experience in staff and program development and evaluation.
  • Experience in leading change.
  • Possess knowledge in healthcare structures, environments, and services as they relate to Pathology and Laboratory Medicine services.
  • Advanced communication skills (listening, written, and oral).
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of field of practice to help inform strategy development and organizational planning.
  • Well-developed organizational, networking, negotiation, and change management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.
  • Previous experience with LEAN workflow analysis and review and previous experience with Failure Mode Effects and Analysis review would be considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits

$42.94 - $57.05 per hour. Successful candidates may be eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
