About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advisory Lawyer - Accident Benefits Expert to join our team in Toronto or Mississauga. As a key member of our Legal Claims team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of accident benefits, loss transfer, and priority dispute files.


Responsibilities

As an Advisory Lawyer - Accident Benefits Expert, you will be responsible for:



  1. Working autonomously in your practice and collaborating with a high-performing team of lawyers, adjusters, and legal support professionals
  2. Helping Intact achieve strategic goals related to indemnity and expense control
  3. Handling accident benefits disputes, loss transfer, and priority dispute files from beginning to end
  4. Appearing before the License Appeal Tribunal and preparing written and oral submissions as needed
  5. Assessing claims with a focus on controlling indemnity while being pragmatic and seeking proactive and efficient resolution
  6. Sharing knowledge and coaching Intact colleagues both inside and outside your department

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:



  1. Strong organization, communication, and negotiation skills to manage a busy practice and work effectively with legal support staff
  2. Strong interpersonal skills, a natural ability to work collaboratively with others, and build effective client relationships
  3. An ability to think outside the box, find novel solutions, and be a pragmatic problem solver
