About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Counsel, Claims Litigation to join our team at Definity. In this role, you will be responsible for managing litigation from inception through to trial, preparing written court materials, and advising on litigation strategies at the case level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act in litigation from inception through to trial via carriage of multiple tort files
  • Prepare written court materials and appear in court
  • Play an advisory role to Definity's Claims department in relation to claims litigation

Requirements

  • Law Degree from an accredited law school (LLB or Juris Doctor)
  • Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario to practice law as a lawyer in Ontario
  • 2 to 10 years of post-call experience working in insurance or personal injury litigation
  • Experience handling property damage and/or construction matters is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint
  • High degree of personal ethics, integrity, and responsibility with an ability to deal with sensitive issues and safeguard confidential information
