About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Records Coordinator to join our Utilization Review Department. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date, while also communicating effectively with stakeholders and billing departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Utilization Review Supervisor to achieve departmental objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure all potential clients receive necessary certifications for services rendered by working with insurance companies, therapists, and the billing department.
  • Communicate regularly with clients/families, billing departments, and treatment team providers.
  • Monitor fulfillment of all documentation requirements.
  • Make recommendations to improve quality of processes and increase efficiency.
  • Research and resolve denials in a timely manner, implementing plans of correction as needed.

Requirements:

  • High School/GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Customer service experience required, with residential treatment experience preferred.
  • Experience with insurance utilization review process and medical terminology; previous utilization review experience in a behavioral health or psychiatric healthcare facility preferred.
  • HIPAA Certification required upon employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPPA Guidelines.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic terms, and treatment modalities.
