Estimated Salary: $62,400 - $83,100 per yearJob SummaryThe Health Records Technician reports to the Manager ADT, Health Records and Privacy Officer. This role plays a vital part in maintaining and organizing patient health records to support clinical care and releasing personal health information in accordance with legislation while ensuring valid consent.
Key Responsibilities- Process requests for inpatient, resident, and outpatient health records from internal and external sources within prescribed timeframes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed Release of Information logs for medical, legal, insurance, WSIB, and other PHI requests.
- Perform various clerical and office tasks as needed.
- Produce medical reports, correspondence, records, client-care information, statistics, medical research, and administrative material as required.
- Maintain, organize, and process clinical information to support clinical care.
- Scan, upload, and verify health information for the EMR (e.g., PCC).
- Assist with quality and/or privacy activities, including audits.
- Adhere to infection control practices, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
- A Completion of an accredited program for Health Information Management and certification as a member in good standing with the Canadian College of Health Information Management.
- Familiarity and understanding of Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and other healthcare-related legislation.
- Experience working with Meditech and Point Click Care is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and computer skills is required.
