We are seeking an exceptional leader to drive innovation and growth in our Visualization Business Unit R&D Team.
The Director, Central Engineering, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical device development at Verathon.
This is a dynamic opportunity for an experienced professional with a passion for medical technology and a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions.
About the Role
- Develop and implement R&D strategies aligned with organizational goals and market trends.
- Lead cross-functional teams in product development, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the R&D team.
- Collaborate closely with regulatory affairs, quality assurance, manufacturing, and marketing departments.
- Manage R&D budgets and resources effectively, optimizing investments to maximize ROI.
Responsibilities
As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for:
- Driving innovation and growth through strategic planning and R&D execution.
- Leading high-performing teams to deliver innovative products that meet customer needs.
- Maintaining expertise in medical device regulations and quality standards.
- Cultivating a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
- Ensuring seamless integration with cross-functional teams.
- Managing risks associated with R&D projects and mitigating technical, regulatory, and business risks.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in R&D leadership roles within the medical device industry.
- In-depth knowledge of medical device regulations and quality standards.
- Strong management skills, including prioritization, project management, and budgeting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Leadership qualities, including inspiring and motivating team members.
Salary Range
$152,500 - $229,800 per annum, depending on skills, experience, and location. Compensation may vary outside the Greater Vancouver area.

Full-time non-sales employees are eligible for Verathon's annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
