Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC). The successful candidate will work closely with the care team in direct care activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions for patients in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
Provide compassionate patient care to patients across the lifespan, including those with complex disease, acute/chronic disease management, mental health, and substance use issues.
Perform nursing assessments and interventions related to common diagnoses and specific clinical situations relevant to the designated patient group.
Make sound clinical judgments to provide safe and ethical patient care, managing a select population of patients and knowing when to seek out clinical support and guidance as needed.
Recognize potential complications and care issues relevant to the designated patient group, alerting the RN and/or most responsible provider, and effectively manage conflict situations and aggressive behavior.
Document patient care on appropriate systems/forms in a timely and accurate manner, providing safe and appropriate telephone consultations and documenting related discussions and patient care on appropriate systems/forms in accordance with organizational and unit protocol.
Requirements
Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one (1) year recent experience working in a related area of care.
Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to caring for patients in the Emergency Department, including those across the lifespan with stable and predictable states of health.
