Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Assurance Manager to join our team at Alstom, a leading global player in the transportation sector. As a key member of our Projects and Programs department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our railway systems.

About the Role
  • Manage and perform activities related to safety assurance in projects and programs.
  • Deliver safe solutions by coordinating all safety assurance activities and performing safety analysis.
  • Define safety plans, manage safety workloads, and support tenders and RC teams.
  • Build safety reports and cases, apply safety assurance methodologies, and organize periodic safety reviews.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Coordinate all Safety Assurance activities on the project/system/product as per Safety process defined in Signalling Safety Instruction.
  2. Perform Safety analysis, manage Hazard Log, review RAM, Cyber, V&V, T&C activities from a Safety perspective.
  3. Define safety plan and manage safety workload and associated planning.
  4. Support tenders and/or RC teams to integrate product/system in projects.
  5. Build the Safety Reports and/or the Safety Cases.
  6. Apply the safety assurance methodologies (risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, verification and validation) defined for the project / system / product.
  7. Organize and attend periodic Safety Reviews.
  8. Defend Safety Case argumentations in front of internal (QS, Safety Assessor) and external (ISA) assessors; define and follow-up action plans to close the findings of the assessors.
  9. Manage (if any) the Safety Assurance Engineers involved on the project / system / product (Internal or external resources).
  10. If identified as Safety Leader for a Safety Issue, manage 8D steps as per process.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Advanced University or Engineering degree.
  • English operational in reading and writing for technical documentation.
  • System, Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical engineering knowledge desired.
  • Mastery of Cenelec Standards for Safety (or equivalent standards if needed: AREMA, IEEE, etc.) and safety methodology & concepts/principles.
  • 10 years successful experience in safety assurance including 2 years in Railway business.
  • Structured and organized.
  • Team player.
  • Proactive behavior.
  • Sense of anticipation and urgency.
  • Ability to say 'no go' when needed and to support/elaborate plan/solution to deliver.
  • Resilient (to pressure, to last minutes deliveries, safety issue management...).
  • Training capability in Safety.
  • Ability to allocate/drive activities performed by others (SAE).
