Belvika Trade & Packaging Ltd. is a leading contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate, and confectionary products. As a Setup Technician/Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our packaging lines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting packaging machines and lines, observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products, and adjusting machine components as needed. They will also be responsible for regulating machine flow or speed, stopping or resetting machines when malfunctions occur, and reporting malfunctions to a Supervisor.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and troubleshooting packaging machines and lines;
  • Observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products;
  • Adjusting machine components, machine tension, and pressure as needed;
  • Regulating machine flow or speed;
  • Stopping or resetting machines when malfunctions occur;
  • Reporting malfunctions to a Supervisor;
  • Inspecting and removing defective products and packaging material;
  • Cleaning, oiling, and making minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment;
  • Monitoring the production line and performing preventative maintenance on packaging lines as scheduled;
  • Repairing areas in the facility that require attention as per work orders;
  • Training Packaging Equipment Operators;
  • Assisting with production on lines as required;
  • Sourcing and ordering parts through online maintenance programs;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements include:

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging;
  • Engineering/Technical Education background;
  • Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset;
  • Experience with high-speed packaging equipment, such as Bartelt and food scales (Ishida);
  • Technical mindset and mechanically inclined;
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems;
  • High attention to detail and good communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
