Job Title: Setup Technician/Operator

Belvika Trade & Packaging Ltd. is a leading contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate, and confectionary products. With over 500,000 ft2 of facilities, we offer a unique opportunity to work with high-speed packaging equipment and contribute to the success of our clients.

We are seeking a skilled Setup Technician/Operator to join our team at our Thornmount facility in Scarborough. The ideal candidate will have experience with secondary packaging, including shrink wrapping, overwrapping, and cartooning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products
  • Adjust machine components, tension, and pressure according to product size or processing angle
  • Regulate machine flow or speed
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur and report to a Supervisor
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material
  • Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on packaging lines as scheduled
  • Repair areas in the facility as required
  • Train Packaging Equipment Operators
  • Assist with production on lines as needed
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging
  • Engineering/Technical Education background
  • Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset
  • Experience with high-speed packaging equipment (e.g., Bartelt and food scales)
Competencies:
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Technical mindset
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems
  • High attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment
