Job Title: Manufacturing Equipment Mechanic

Belvika Trade & Packaging Ltd. is a leading contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate, and confectionary products. We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our Thornmount facility in Scarborough.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Manufacturing Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting packaging machines and lines, observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products, and performing preventative maintenance on the production line.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines, including vertical and horizontal cartoners with gluers, SUP baggers, and multi-weigh scale/filter systems.
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products.
  • Adjust machine components, machine tension, and pressure according to size or processing angle of product.
  • Regulate machine flow or speed.
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a Supervisor.
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
  • Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on the production line.
  • Repair areas in the facility that require attention as per work orders.
  • Train Packaging Equipment Operators.
  • Assist with production on lines as required.
  • Be proficient in the use of the CMMS system for documenting repairs, preventative maintenance, and parts inventory management.
Requirements:
  • 2-3 years' experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging.
  • Engineering/Technical Education background.
  • Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset.
  • Licensed Millwright not required.
