About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Power Engineer to join our team. As a Power Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of high-pressure steam boilers, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and emergency power diesel generating units.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in plant operations and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a 4th Class Stationary Engineer certificate and a minimum of three years of experience in maintenance and plant operations.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain high-pressure steam boilers, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and emergency power diesel generating units
  • Respond to calls from other departments concerning maintenance and operation of hospital equipment
  • Work in accordance with the Power Engineer's and Plant Operations regulations
  • Perform repairs on related systems and equipment
  • Work independently and as an effective member of a team
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent required
  • 4th Class Stationary Engineer certificate required
  • Previous experience in plant/building operations and maintenance required
  • Three years' experience in maintenance and plant operations preferred
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions required
  • Knowledge and observation of safe work practices required
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision required
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
