Learning Support Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Specialist to join our team at School District #57 (Prince George). This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with exceptional needs.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will assist small groups and/or individual students with specific drill and practice activities in academic and behavioural domains according to an education plan. They will also monitor and assist students during unstructured time, such as recess, lunch hour, before and after school periods, and between classes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general health procedures
- Assist with communication and performance skill activities
- Administer medication as assigned
- Assist students in gaining independence in specific life skills
- Accompany students to community access activities
- Prepare instructional materials
- Participate in conferences with parents and others
- Observe students and record observations
- Score objective tests and assignments
- Maintain confidentiality and follow directions
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have a grade twelve education, related college/university courses, and one year of experience working with children or youth with exceptional needs. You must also be able to perform child-specific behaviour management techniques, operate or learn to operate school and/or personalized equipment, and effectively communicate in English.
Salary and Benefits:
The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, retirement savings, and paid time off.
