The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Hematology/Oncology/Nephrology service. As a member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will provide holistic, comprehensive evidence-based care to meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities.

Reporting to the Manager of the Hematology/Oncology/Nephrology service, you will be responsible for providing leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient/family care. You will work collaboratively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to promote, maintain, or restore health, prevent illness, injury, and disability, or support a peaceful death.

You will have the opportunity to build professional relationships with other nurses and healthcare team members to support the work of a strong interprofessional team and provision of quality patient/family care. You will prioritize the goals and needs of patients and families, using nursing knowledge, critical thinking, and clinical judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, patient/family education, and coordination of care
  • Engage in independent, interdependent, and dependent functions to provide healthcare
  • Build professional relationships with other nurses and healthcare team members
  • Prioritize the goals and needs of patients and families
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Program
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
  • 1 year Pediatric experience required
  • Experience in Hematology/Oncology or Nephrology preferred
  • Hematology/Oncology or Nephrology certification or enrollment in the certification process preferred
  • PD dialysis and/or AHPON Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Status preferred
  • Current successful completion of CPR Level C Health Care Provider within the last 12 months required
