Chief Safety Innovation Officer, Automotive Technology

Synopsys Inc., a world leader in semiconductor IP solutions for the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced Functional Safety Director to lead our team in ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 and related standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in functional safety, leadership skills, and experience working with cross-functional teams. They will be responsible for managing our Functional Safety team, overseeing development methodology and processes, and collaborating with IPG IP product teams to ensure conformance to quality and functional safety requirements.

About the Role
  • Lead Functional Safety activities, development methodologies, and processes executed by the independent Functional Safety team for hardware, firmware, embedded software, or mixed products and solutions.
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration and project execution with IPG IP Product Development teams.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends in functional safety to support new product innovations.
  • Ensure Functional Safety and Automotive methodologies and processes align with business objectives while delivering differentiated solutions.
  • Embody a collaborative, supportive, and inspirational leadership style to deliver results that exceed expectations.
  • Work with customers, marketing/sales, and field teams, as well as product teams to evaluate customer requirements related to quality, functional safety, and automotive reliability.

Key Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in semiconductor area.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience in Functional Safety for automotive.
  • Full understanding of automotive standards (ISO 26262) and proficiency in applying standard requirements to product development life cycles.
  • Extensive end-to-end experience and complete lifecycle of Functional Safety product developments.
  • Bachelor's degree in any related field with additional certifications will also be considered.
  • Strong people management background with proven skills in leading large teams, setting up technical processes, customer interactions, project planning, and tracking.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around $160,000 per year, based on industry standards and the location.
