Safety Manager

First Student Canada-Transco is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Location Safety Manager to join our team in Toronto, ON.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer the driver hiring and compliance process, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations.
- Provide guidance and direction to location trainers, developing and delivering classroom training content to ensure compliance.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and work-related injuries, determining fault or preventability and providing post-accident counseling to drivers.
- Prepare and submit accident-related compliance forms, maintaining files and entering data into DMO or submitting to the appropriate organization.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct monthly safety meetings, assisting in Safety Action Team meetings and setting up regular accident review committees.
- Provide assistance and training to drivers and attendants on passenger management and other safety-related issues.
- Perform driver road checks, analyzing safety trends and developing cost-saving recommendations.
- 5 years of operations experience, including roles within operations starting with the driver role.
- Experience in a safety role is preferred.
- Committed to a safety lifestyle, with knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with experience in other software such as timekeeping and payroll systems.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time, with strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in dealing with employees of all levels.
