Job Summary
First Student Shared Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Location Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our drivers, passengers, and employees.
Main Responsibilities
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Administer the driver hiring and compliance process, including interviewing and driver selection, background checks, and physical examinations.
- Provide direction and guidance to location trainers and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and work-related injuries, including accident investigation and reporting.
- Determine fault or preventability based on the facts identified at the scene.
- Safety Training and Education
- Teach classes on safety procedures and protocols as required.
- Develop and implement safety training programs to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with drivers, employees, and management to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with the Safety Action Team to identify and implement safety improvements.
Requirements
- 5 years of operations experience, including roles within operations starting with the driver role.
- Experience in a safety role is preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues.
- Proficient computer literacy with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
